           In this blog i am saying you about OLX SCAM.

Q. How to prevent from these scammer.

Now these days, a new scam comes out frequently, "OLX SCAM BY QR CODE PAYMENT". the scenario is that. Suppose i have a old laptop and i have to sell it. Then i decide to sell it on olx. after that i give an ads regarding same on olx on the price 20000/- INR. and i am a non technical person. I only know how to operate technology, like Laptop, Mobile, internet, Social media surfing, and digital transaction that's it. after giving ads on olx after sometimes i received a call from a person who introduce him as a army man. then he tell me that i am interested  in this product and he is comfortable with doing Google Pay. then i say to him okay go ahead then he tell me some process of receiving money, showing that he is in defense thats why there is any other rule of payment because of security purpose then  he ask for my whatsapp number and i give my number. he say to me that i am sending you a QR code to receive 1/- INR for checking and then he send a QR code pic on your whatsapp and ask for confirmation. and I scan that QR code and i received the 1/- INR and confirm him. then he send me the next QR code and i scan that QR code and the 19999/- INR debited from my account. then he block my number and i started crying.

This all things is happening in our society. the main things is that as a non technical person i understand that this is the fault of technology, bank and government. and i also believe that the scammer is more intelligent but this is not true. neither, this is the fault of technology, bank and Government nor scammer is more intelligent. the truth is i am fool. 

Now, you say that okay, right here i am the victim that why you say that. then why don't you scan that QR code. then trust me when I will scan that same QR code of victim and i will not become any victim like that.  then you say how can you say this.

Then the answer is  This is all the game of playing with your mind.  I am explaining all the scenario from the view of a scammer, you and mine .

1. He introduce himself as a army man. the reason is that in India, we see our ARMY as a very respectful way which is a good manner here, i am not saying against for our ARMY, I am only focusing on understanding the technology which is our priority. and here your mind partially divert from your aim. Now, your behavior shifted into polite pitch, automatically and you must start thinking that okay, i am helping a ARMY man and now you have the contact number of him. and you make him friend. 

Here, What ever you do, I do same things.

2. Now,  then he usually play a victim card to gain  sympathy by making a fake story.

Here, I also react same as you react.  

3. after that he ask for your whatsapp number for sending QR code. 

Here,

You send your whatsapp number for receiving QR code.

I send my whatsapp number for receiving QR code. BUT, I also think that why he choose QR code for doing payment.

4. Then he tell you about the process of transaction of money.

Here,

You will become happy that, today you learn new things that how to receive payment from that man because he is telling about this for security purpose and all that.

I, now here only started doubt on him.

4. after that he send first QR code for transaction of RS 1/-

You scan that QR code and you get your amount. 

 I also do same things.

5. Now he send the second QR code for transaction of Rs. 19999/-.

you scan the QR code and click on pay and enter your UPI pin for receiving money and now, you are crying. 

I scan that QR code and a page pop up in front of me that enough for me to understand the whole scamming scenario and i go through the needful action.

Now, Here you say that hey, You are lier, you tell me that you do same thing as i did and you never be scammed, but i read above carefully that you din't click on pay button and didn't enter your UPI pin. 

Then, My friend i told you to do scan only and i did scan.

Now, let me come on technical point, before that there is also some thing hidden in 19999/-. When he send the QR code of 19999/- only then you mind automatically think that okay first he send me 1 then rest amount. then this incident divert your mind into other direction because of "SAVING RS 1/-, He CAN GIVE TOTAL OF 20000/-, HE IS IN ARMY SO THIS IS HIS DISCIPLINE THAT HE IS ONLY TRANSFERRING EXACT REST AMOUNT  and many more". 

Now Technical point:- You clicked on PAY BUTTON. have you think that why PAY BUTTON is here because you are receiving money not paying him. and now you told me what about UPI pin. the answer is, this is our habit when we do banking transaction, our mind automatically go into conscious mode to prevent from doing mistake. and here you can also think that in first payment you did nothing to receive money.  

 Now i will tell you how to prevent from these scams.

--> Before doing transaction always be calm and only focus on your screen.

--> always see whole screen of your device.

--> always ask for whole screen shot of QR code page as shown in Figure. If he don't agree to give then don't do transaction.

--> See the screen shot carefully "Scan My code Pay" not be their while receiving in money as shown in figure.

-->Before doing transaction always confirm which application he is using and search on internet the exact page of receiving and paying.

-->If you have any doubt then in that condition never pay and ask from the person who have proper knowledge.

--> Never share your OTP and UPI pin to anyone and any other confidential details.
